Is there a way I can manually add a Mac app to an item's Linked Apps other than via Quick Access?
Usually when I try to autofill a password in a Mac app that isn't yet linked to any item in 1Password, I am given the option to Fill & Update Login and that adds the app to the item's Linked Apps. However, I've run into a situation where that isn't working and I'm not seeing a way to manually add the app to the item's Linked Apps. Is there a way to do that?

Do you have one in mind that's causing you trouble? If so, can you share it with me? It may be a known issue and I can let the team know about it. Manual linking was possible in version 7 but it is not possible with 8.

@ag_tommy Indeed, I encountered this with Microsoft OneDrive. But it's nuanced...I have two instances of OneDrive running because I have both a work and personal account. When I logged in to my personal account I was able to use the Fill & Update Login action to link the app to the relevant 1Password item. Then I tried doing the same for my work account, and 1Password seemed unable to even populate the password in the form via Quick Access, so I never got to the Fill & Update Login prompt.

Not sure if my problem is related but I also need a way to link apps manually or to override the default behaviour when an app is linked. I have multiple Microsoft accounts for example and when one of them is linked that one is always used to login. I can never select another account. So the current workaround is to remove the linked app from the first account and then 'm given the dropdown again to select the correct item.
In short the whole linked app feature is useless if you have multiple accounts for the same website. Hope this helps investigate and probably solve this.0 -
Hi @KrisGeus / @misterbiscuit:
If you open Quick Access to search for your second Login, rather than pressing ⌘+\, you can search for the second Login, then choose Autofill. That will allow you to link multiple items to the same app, then both will be suggested the next time you press ⌘+. Let me know how you get on with that!

Thank @Jack.P_1P , but per my most recent reply on August 19 I encountered an issue when I tried to do exactly that. Apologies if that wasn't clear from my description! I opened Quick Access, searched for the second Login, chose Autofill, and then...nothing happened. The form wasn't filled by 1Password and I wasn't prompted to Fill & Update Login. :-/

@Jack.P_1P That works for me indeed. I have to mention that I'm already on the beta channel due to an earlier bugfix so that might help @misterbiscuit. And although this way of using the app works it requires a different action from the user (different key strokes to open the quick access, need to accept the quick acces item with Shift+Return otherwise it opens in the browser instead of the app) besides the usual ⌘+. And you first need to realise that 1Password filled in a different password for you which is difficult to tell when it is masked.
Not sure what a good solution would be though.0 -
Hi @misterbiscuit:
Thanks for following up, and I apologize for the mixup. If you update to the latest version of 1Password for Mac (8.9.4), does that improve your state of play when using Quick Access to associate an additional Login item with an app? Let me know.
Once both Login items have been associated with the app you have open, they should both be suggested when you use ⌘+. If this isn't what you're seeing, let me know.

@Jack.P_1P That is indeed how it works now. Thx a lot.

@Jack.P_1P Unfortunately I'm still having the issue with 1Password for Mac 8.9.4.
- I click the OneDrive icon in the menu bar. Note that I have two of these in my menu bar. The first is signed into my personal Microsoft account. The second is for my work account, but is not signed in.
- I click the Sign In button in the small window OneDrive window that appears under the icon in the menu bar
- A couple of OneDrive windows appear. The one on top loads the Office 365 log in page. It has remembered my work email address and so is asking me to "Enter password"
- I open 1Password Quick Access by pressing command + shift + space
- I type "microsoft" into the "Search 1Password" input in the Quick Access dialog, and use the down arrow key to highlight the item that contains my work Microsoft account credentials
- I press the right arrow key to bring up the quick access options for my work account item, and then the down arrow until "Autofill" is highlighted, and then press the return key (or I use the mouse to click on "Autofill" - it doesn't make a difference which way I select it)
- The 1Password quick access dialog disappears, but nothing else happens - nothing is entered into the "Enter password" form and I receive no further prompts from 1Password or otherwise
