Ability to Disable Show In Browser is gone?

I forget the exact name of the feature/checkbox in previous versions of 1Password. But it seems the ability to disable an entry to appear as a browser suggestion/pop-up is gone.

As an IT manager and general geek that has been using 1Password almost since its inception it is pretty annoying to have 18 things in a pop-up for gmail/google login when I only need 3 99.9% of the time.

1Password Version: 8.8.0
Extension Version: 2.3.7
OS Version: macOS 13.0 Beta (22A5321d)
Browser:_ Firefox

Thanks for sharing your use. Would a collection benefit you? Use collections to create custom groups of vaults I've added your voice to our tracker for the original feature (never display in browser).

It could but with more than 1000 items in 1Password it seems easier to exclude 10 using the old "do not show in browser" than it does to include 1000+ in a collection ;)

For now I've just removed the website field from the items I don't want in the pop-up but that is just exchanging one inconvenience for another.

actually exchanging one inconvenience for two.

    1. it doesn't show me 18 things in a pop-up (good)
    2. I don't have the link to "Open & Fill" from within 1Password.app
    3. I don't have a favicon on the entry for the site because I've removed the website

p.p.s. this is not only a problem on Google's sites for an institution with Google Workspace but it is also a problem on Apple's sites where I have a long personal service history, family members, and also many different management accounts for things such as VPP purchasing, Apple School Manager etc. etc.

  • You could move some of those to other areas, and it might help. For example, you can create a vault and call it autofill and create a matching collection. Then move needed items there or perhaps another vault called family or another meaningful term and place the other users' logins there.

For example in my own use I have a collection named Me that uses my typical vaults. Collection Me+ uses all of my typical vaults and one I use to keep all of those extra things I seldom use. I have another collection Admin for several folks I admin for and I switch as needed between the collections. This would require some reworking and is not meant to dissuade you from your request. It's just more of another way to look at the picture as a whole.

Adding my voice here that the lack of a "never display in browser" is really annoying in 1Password 8. The only way to mimic that behavior is to archive a login, but then that login doesn't show up in the vault. The above suggestion of creating multiple vaults is overly complicated and gives me more to manage a user. That's so much more confusing to me as a user. Please bring back the "never display in browser" option!

Thank you for the feedback. I've added your comment to the feature request so that our product group is aware of your use case for a "Never suggest in browser" feature in 1Password 8. 🙂
