1Password 8 Quits Unexpectedly After Installation on Mac - Aug 2022

I have had 1Password for about a year and it's worked fine. No problems. Then, I was prompted to install the latest version (1Password 8) and, after downloading the Zip file and running it, I get a "1Password quit unexpectedly" window and a long long long error message. I think that it has probably installed correctly b/c the icon appears in my menu bar; and, when I try to launch the app from the menu bar, I get the error message.

Steps I have taken:

  • Rebooting it (twice)
  • Rebooting after dragging the 1Password app to the trash from the Applications folder and rebooting
  • Downloading the installation package directly from the Web site
  • Checking the forums for this problem.

I welcome your advice and suggestions. I am generally a fan of 1Password but this is very frustrating.

I am using 1Password on a public school-issued Mac, OS Version 10.15.3, and I have the extension installed on Chrome.

1Password Version: 8
Extension Version: 8.8.0 (8.8.0.120034))
OS Version: 10.15.3
Browser:_ Chrome

    Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
    Exception Codes: EXC_I386_GPFLT
