Hi Team,

I exported all my stored passwords in a 1pux file, because the support article reg. "How to export data from 1Password" (https://support.1password.com/export/) it's mentioned how you can do. When I opened the file, surprisingly the content was still encrypted.

Since the 1PUX file format is explained in a perfect way in the article "About the 1Password Unencrypted Export format" refer to https://support.1password.com/1pux-format/, my expectation was, that the file is saved decrypted .

Can you help on that matter ?

BR
Tom

  • Hi @Gromit1965

Thanks for taking the time to write in. I wonder if you're trying to open the .1pux file in a text editor without unzipping it first?

Each 1PUX file is a ZIP archive that includes the following files:

        <account UUID>.1pux
        │── export.attributes
        │── export.data
        └── files
            └── ...

The export.data file within the 1pux ZIP is the one you'll want to open with your text / JSON editor. I hope that helps!
