Start with something other than Home?
Is there any way to set 1Password 8 to open to, for example, the categories list, rather than the home page/screen? I know you guys think the new Home Screen is terrific, but I find it completely useless, and it just makes me have to use one more tap to get to where I want to be than in 1Password 7.

Hey @michael34:
1Password 8 will always open to the screen you were using last, so if you were using the Items tab before, you'll come back there. The only time 1Password will default to opening the Home tab is if the app has been forced to quit by swiping it away from the app switcher in iOS. This is because 1Password, like every other app, will treat being swiped away from the app switcher as a crash, which is pretty much what that does, so it will revert to the safe state of opening the Home tab on the next launch, to recover from that crash.
Swiping apps away isn't something that you need to do unless an app stops working. Apple themselves say, "You should close an app only if it’s unresponsive" here: Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch - Apple Support. iOS (or iPadOS) will manage things like memory and battery consumption automatically. It's worth noting that the apps that you see in the app switcher aren't actively running, like they would be on a desktop computer. All apps, except the one(s) in front of you, are suspended, and are essentially showing a screenshot of what it was doing last. You won't save any battery by closing apps from the switcher. If anything, those apps will use more energy recovering from the forced crash than they would have done by pausing when you opened something else, and resuming when you come back.
Please let me know if you have any questions, or would like any further help.
