Why is 1Password opening at Startup?
Ever since I upgraded to the new 8.8 my 1Password is behaving differently.
The main thing that is bugging me is that now when I run CleanMyMac, it tells that before it runs its clean, it has to close 1Password. Why is 1Password now suddenly starting up when I don't need it? I much prefer to open it when I need it, and let it time itself out and disappear into the background when I don't.

Hi @alexis13,
Sorry to hear 1Password 8 isn't behaving as expected. Does adjusting this option in your 1Password preferences help?
Let me know. 🙂

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for your reply. And yyyyes.... I unchecked 'start at login'...
But this is not helping. 1Password evidently continues to log itself in, because when CleanMyMac wants to do its clean it still asks if I want to quit 1Password first.
Next idea?
Thanks!

⚠️ We recommend against allowing clean up apps near your data. They could cause data loss. I suggest if you have an exclusion list for the app, that you add 1Password to it. I would strongly advise against allowing any cleaner apps to touch, modify, alter, or delete any files or data within

folders. Is the browser open? It may be that the connection between the browser and 1Password is active.

Hello Tommy,
Thanks for your words. This is the first I have ever heard of not being able to use CleanMyMac with 1Password. I will check out the exclusion list angle...
Meanwhile, can you drop me a link or two where this potential data loss problem with CMM is detailed?
And no-- the browser is not open. I have been running CMM once the browser that I'm using (usually Safari) is closed.
What is evidently happening is that 1Password is logging itself into my user, despite not being a login item.
Not only is it unticked in 1Password (General > Prefs > Start at Login), it is not listed under login items under System Prefs > Users & Groups. This is making me uncomfortable. There must be a way to turn this off, and still have the basic functionality that I was enjoying before this update.0
