The Windows app does not work for me

Just switched to 1password today, downloaded the 1Password 8 for Windows and the Chrome extension. Now:

  1. The Chrome extension only says "Open 1Password", and clicking the button does not thing (even though my desktop app is open)
  2. When logging into a website that I don't have password for, there is no prompt for saving the password
  3. When logging into a website that I have password for, there is a "1password" icon, but clicking the icon does nothing.

I assume it's that the desktop app that's not working?

1Password Version: 8.8.0
Extension Version: 2.3.7
OS Version: Windows 10 19043.1889
Browser:_ Chrome 104.0.5112.102

Also, I have "Integrate with 1Password app" on.

  • Hello @DKWings,

Thanks for message and sorry for the troubles you've been encountering with 1Password in the browser. It sounds like there's a problem with the connection with the desktop app.

Could you reboot your device, then first open and unlock the 1Password 8 for Windows desktop app and then your browser? Does 1Password in the browser continue to stay locked afterwards? If it is still locked, could you follow the steps below:
    1. Right-click the 1Password icon in the Windows system tray > Quit.
    2. In the browser, right-click the 1Password icon in the toolbar > Settings
    3. Scroll near the bottom of the page, and for your account, select the () and sign out.
    4. Close your browser.
    5. Relaunch and sign in to 1Password 8 for Windows.
    6. Open you browser, wait a few seconds and check if 1Password in the browser unlocks.

Please let us know how this goes and if you any further troubles. Thanks!
