should I remove old versions of 1Password?
I have just installed 1 Password 8 on my mac. I still have licenses for 1Password 5, 6, & 7 on my computer. Should I remove them? How do I do that?
1Password Version: 8.9.4
Extension Version: 1P for Safari
OS Version: mac 12.5.1
Browser:_ Safari

You mentioned licenses. Are you looking to remove the apps themselves? If so, the following should help. If it's a license file it can remain present as it should not pose a problem with 1Password 8.
- Your data is maintained outside of the app and will be completely safe. * Please be mindful to follow the steps below, especially the part about NOT using an app cleaner. They have been known to remove user's data, and we DO NOT want that to happen.
- Quit all open web browsers, especially Safari.
- Look for our helper in the menu bar near the WiFi indicator and the clock. Right-click on the 1Password 7 helper and select quit "1Password completely".
- Note: 1Password 8's helper only uses the word "Quit".
- Drag 1Password 7 along with any other versions you wish to remove from the Applications folder to the Trash 🗑 . Do not use an "app cleaner" or "uninstaller" tool to remove the app or additional files. If prompted, enter the password you use to sign in to your Mac.
Note 1Password 8 uses the common name 1Password you'll want to leave it. :)
That should get you going. Please let me know if you have any trouble.

Regarding Appcleaner and data loss -- are you saying that the Appcleaner can remove data from the cloud as well? Are we talking vault data loss or just local data loss?

If you have standalone version 7 and prior vaults it could potentially remove data files. If all of your data is in a membership then you can pull it in again if needed. As a general rule we always advise you to not allow clear apps near your password data.
