A Possible Bug with Custom Icons in 1Password 8

When I download custom icons for use in 1 Password 8, I usually crop them to a 600 X600 pixel size, and they work perfectly on my 24-inch M1 iMac. They also work perfectly on my Android phone, which is a Samsung Galaxy 10. But when I sent them to my husband via email to use on his iPhone and iPad, several of the icons end up truncated on these mobile devices. Circles, for example, do not appear as circles because the tops and bottoms are flattened,

The only solution I have found is to resize the icons to about 20 % smaller to work on his devices. But that would mean, of course, that if I had one of these mobile devices on my own network, I would not be able to see them at their optimal size on all of my devices as soon as I synced the devices with one another.

It would seem that the software itself should rescale the icons to work appropriately on the device on which it is installed. I have never encountered this problem before, so it may be a bug that was introduced into 1Password 8.

I will attach links to two Airbnb icons for reference. The larger one is the one that works on my iMac; the smaller one is the one that works on the iPad and iPhone. The size difference is fairly remarkable. Both have been resized to 600 x 600 pixels, but the smaller icon is considerably smaller than the other one.

Please help if you can! Having to create custom icons in multiple sizes requires a lot of extra work that should not be necessitated by this software. Also, when I get an iPad of my own, I can see that I am going to have icon issues as soon as I sync the devices with one another.

  • Hi @glindsey:

Thanks for reporting this. I did some digging and see that this is something we're aware of. While I can't promise anything specifically, hopefully we can have this resolved in the future.
