1password appears on top of browser windows

I recently upgraded to 1password 8 and am experiencing a new problem. Frequently when I'm using my browser, e.g. navigating between windows or refreshing a page, 1password will insert itself as the active program. i.e. instead of Firefox appearing in the top menu bar, it's 1password, and my browser screen is greyed out as 1password is overlaid on Firefox. This is requiring a lot of extra clicks to get back to my browser and do simple tasks.
This wasn't happening in the previous version. Can anyone shed some light on what is happening?
