My problems with 1Password 8 - Please bring back key features from v7

Dear 1Password Support & Developers Teams,

I've been a happy customer for many years.

Kudos for your efforts with 1Password 8. In general, I like the new design. Moreover, the app does feel faster (both on macOS and on iOS). I understand changing the internals in v8 is an important milestone towards future developments.

On the other hand, there is actually nothing new in v8, on a functionality level, which has made my life easier. Rather, now I miss some key features, which were available back in v7.

I hope you please consider the following features to make it back soon to v8:

  • Be able to change the field type on edit mode. This is for me a must.
  • Be able to drag & move fields to/between different sections. This is for me a must.
  • The attached files should still have the option to reveal in Finder. This is for me a must. Besides, I don't understand why there is now the option of "Download". After all, the file is actually already in the system.
  • As far as I remember, in v7 it was possible to rename the file fields titles.
  • Search functionality should dynamically filter the results (see: https://1password.community/discussion/130843/1password-8-search-results#latest)
  • The search box should have an easy small button, just like in v7, to display an advanced search box functionality. As far as I know, there is no advanced search panel anymore, as of v8.9.4
  • Changing a password faster. With v8, changing a password takes too many clicks. AFAIK, the steps to change a password are now:

    1. Click on "Edit" the item (or use the shortcut)
    2. Click on the desired password to change (by the way, this immediately reveals the password, which I don't think is a good default for security)
    3. Click on the new button "Create a New Password"
    4. On the new panel, click on "Use".
  • Creating a "New Item" faster, at least for the most common types, such as "Login" or "Credit Card". With v7, clicking on "New Item", immediately showed on the spot a list of the most common items, which was very easy to click on. Also, as I soon as I clicked on the item type I wanted, the item was immediately created. Now the steps are:

    1. Click on "New Item"
    2. A completely new panel is shown, which breaks the flow and forces you to focus on a completely new part of the screen
    3. Click on the desired Item to create
    4. Edit the fields of the new item... and finally click "Save".
  • Creating a new field should be faster. As far as I remember, in v7, as soon as I clicked on "add new field", a new field indeed was created of type "text" (and later, if I wanted, I could also change the type). Now there is always an extra step:

    1. Click on "add another field"
    2. Click on the desired field type

In general, I feel that the new UX in v8 requires too many clicks, for things that used to be faster before. Since I'm using 1Password all day long, speed is for me paramount.

Thank you for considering my feedback.

As I have commented dozens of times in other threads, everything @juanmirocks listed are sorely missed features in 1P8. As I have noted elsewhere, a public acknowledgement of the mistakes made in the rollout of 1P8, along with a publicly available product roadmap, would be very useful to avoid the customer drain that I believe is happening (based upon comments) because of the premature rollout of 1P8.

Another key feature that I'm missing in v8 (and, as far as I remember, it was available in v7):

If I click on a vault, and then I search, I then expect to being searching in the selected vault ONLY.

From my humble experience, so far I switch back to v7.

By the way, another security problem I found with v8: if I close the app, then I open the app again, ... 1Password shows unlocked... That's not good.
