I need help learning how to use a one-time passcode for two-factor authorization.

I have tried to follow the instructions on the support page. When I try to scan, I get a message that the scan was not recognized (and I don't see a QR code). When I try to input a code given by the website, I get a message that the URL for the one-time passcode is invalid. This all seems hopelessly complicated. Is there a simple way to have 1Password fill in the two-factor authorization?

  • Hi there @frankgold

Sorry to hear you're having trouble setting up two-factor authentication for an account. Would you mind telling me for what website you're trying to set up two-factor authentication? Once I know, I can give it a try myself and let you know what I find out.

Typically, there would be a QR code on the website which can be scanned to add the secret to the item in 1Password. Sometimes, you'll see it written out as (usually) 16 characters. If so, you can copy and paste those into the item's one-time password field, like this:

(note: This one-time password secret is shown for example purposes only.)

If you can't see a "one-time password" field, you can click "+ add more", then "One-Time Password".

Let me know on what website you're having trouble and I'll take a look. :)
