Auto-Lock set to Never, Apple Watch Unlock set to ON = LOCK

Can someone please explain how the security settings work because I think there is a bug.
Look at this screen:

My understanding is if** Auto-Lock** = NEVER then UNLOCK would have no function since the app is never supposed to lock.
However, if Unlock -->Apple Watch is selected the app does lock.

This behavior is illogical to me. If the app is never supposed to lock why does the Apple Watch checkbox have any effect?

OS Version: 12.6

  • Hey @lysander

    In this particular set of conditions, the "Unlock with Apple Watch" checkbox would come into play if you manually lock 1Password or fully quit it. If the option is turned off, you can only use your account password to unlock 1Password. If it's on, you'll be able to use your Watch as well.

    I hope that answers your question fully, but please do let me know if I can be of any further help. :)

    @GreyM1P Thanks...

    Does clicking the window close radio button constitute " manually lock 1Password or fully quit it."?

    Using the red 🔴 close window button in the top-left corner of the window won't (by itself) cause 1Password to lock. It would only auto-lock in line with your preferences, although in this case, that's Never.

    To fully quit 1Password, you need to right-click the 1Password icon in the menu bar and click Quit. Then, when you open 1Password again, you'd need to unlock it.
