Help unravel the login issues described
I use 1password, Mac 8.9.6 on a new M1 Mac using Monterey 12.6.
I have a password for my bank accounts with the entry titled - "Bank Bob" and a second one for "Bank Jenny". Each entry has a different password and username, both have the same url for the online bank application.
If, on last use, I was working on Bank Jenny, and, if I highlight Bank Bob and then click the "open and fill" entry in Bank Bob, then the log in dialog loads, but it is either blank (no username offered and no password) or it fills in the wrong user name and no password, or it fills in both entries with the wrong username and password. Note that I can detect no sense in which of the three wrong combinations it selects.
If, next, I click the 1password symbol up in the Safari address bar, it offers the choice of both accounts, and, if I then select Bank Bob, then sometimes it fills both the username and password in. Sometimes, it fills in only the username and forgets the password, so I have to refill a second time to get the password added.
So, a simple login to a bank account never loads both pieces of data reliably - this is made doubly annoying because the password it fills in, is obscured by the little 1password log, so I cannot be sure, until logging in, that it has selected the right or wrong password.
In addition to this pantomime, often, regardless of what I select in the Security Preferences panel, often I am prompted for touch id and/or 1password entries.
On occasion, I swear that it is faster to dump 1password and look up the security data on a sticky note attached to the computer. I have selected "Never" for Autolock and require password "Never" for touch ID in an attempt to reduce the countless logins that the Mac and 1password combination seem to require during the day. Neither of "the Nevers" fill me with security confidence, but, I cannot spend all day just fighting 1Password logins.
This was, and may still be a good product, but it is worrying that yellow stickies look like a good solution compared to 1password.
By the way, why on earth can I not move these two items into Passwords. or Bank Accounts?? It wouldn't solve any problems, but it is much more logical to actually have items in categories that are meaningful to me, not to some far away developer.
Another, By the way I have several other accounts that are just as contrary as the two discussed. I use similar accounts for my and my wife's accounts and the results are equally as arbitrary.
and a final by the way ... On earlier versions of the 1password software, the same accounts mentioned existed, but the software worked without the gyrations that are now apparent.
