1password 8 Master password will not work

I just got my mac mini back from apple after having the logic board replaced. No matter what I do the 1password 8 master password will not work. I have tried to uninstall 1password - will not work. I have installed 1password 7 and it works fine - upgrade to 1password 8 and it will not work. master password works on website vault - 1passowrd 7 - on my windows 11 laptop - all my ios devices - just not my mac with 1passowrd 8. Not sure what else to try

When you say your account password "works on website vault", I take it that you can successfully sign in to 1Password.com?

If so, can you also check the following and let me know what happens in each case?

• what happens if you click the 👁️ reveal password button in the account password field? You'll need to enter at least one character for that button to appear.
• if you enter your account password into a text file and then copy and paste it into 1Password, does it work?
• do you have any accented or special characters in your account password? (Don't tell me what they are if so!)

Your account password should only include characters from this set:

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
0123456789
! " # $ % & ' ( ) * + , - . / \ : ; ? @ [ ] ^ _ ` { | } ~
a space, entered by pressing the Space bar

If you have any other characters in your account password, you should change it to only include those from the ASCII set above: How to change your 1Password account password.

Check those three things and let me know how things go. I'll be here if you need any further help. :)

Yes my master password works fine when I log into 1password.com - I have revealed the text and the password is being entered correctly.
No it will not work if I enter it in a text file and copy / paste
I do not have any special characters -

By any chance, did you restore your Mac mini from a Time Machine backup? We have heard reports of Time Machine not correctly restoring the database, meaning your usual account password won't work to unlock it. It's not clear what the root cause of that is just now, but we're looking into it as best we can.

Check that all the items you would expect are on 1Password.com. If so, the best plan will be to reset 1Password on your Mac.

⚠️ Make sure you have a copy of your Emergency Kit or another signed-in device nearby to help you sign back in to your 1Password account on your Mac.

Assuming that you can find everything you need and you have a copy of your account details from your Emergency Kit or another device, you can follow these steps to reset 1Password on your Mac and sign in again: How to reset the 1Password app on a specific device.

Thank you very much - you nailed it! I did restore from a time machine backup. Adding .old to the BUA8C4S2C.com.1password folder fixed my problem. Everything is working fine now - Thanks again.
