I installed 1PW8 on my Apple devices and it created chaos. I want to go back to 1PW7. Please advise.

  • Hello @keyfalls! 👋

I'm sorry to hear that you ran into some trouble with 1Password 8. Can you tell me a little more about what specifically went wrong? I would be happy to help get everything working for you so that you can continue to run the latest version on your devices.

With the launch of 1Password 8 for Mac, 1Password 7 for Mac is no longer supported and will only receive important security updates. We strongly encourage you to update to, and use, 1Password 8 going forward. That being said, you can revert back to 1Password 7 by following these steps:

    1. Click on the 1Password 8 icon in the menubar and click Quit.
    2. Open your Applications folder and drag 1Password 8 to the trash.
    3. Restart your Mac.
    4. Open your Applications folder and double-click on "1Password 7.app.zip" to restore the backup copy of 1Password 7.
    5. Double-click on 1Password 7.

Dave, I can't recall many specifics, but the app inserted passwords that didn't work. Or took me to crazy websites. Plus, I don't like the feature that offers passwords by frequency of use. I admit that the problems may be of my own creation. I suspect that I don't have the laptop, phone and ipad correctly installed and synced. I would stick with 1PW8 if I can get it working smoothly across all devices. -- keyfalls
