How to set autofill for filling in contact details when you land on a new site Chrome?

Options

Big Sur OS, MacBook Air, 1P v. 7, browser Chrome
When I land on a new-to-me site, ie, foodireland.com, and want to create register, how to get 1P to autofill contact info? I open 1P, my contact info is a choice, I select it, click Autofill, and nothing happens. Yes, I have Chrome extension installed. No, I do not want to move to 1P 8. I tried it and it was problematic, inconsistent, and so unlike the smooth running v7, I reverted.

Hey @xandarar, have you added your email address added to an Identity item? To do that:

    1. Click the 1Password icon in your browser’s toolbar.
    2. Click New Item and choose Identity.
    3. Enter all the information you want 1Password to fill for you (including your email address), then click Save.

To fill your email address via an Identity item, you'd have to:

    1. Go to the form that you'd like to fill.
    2. Click the 1Password icon in your browser’s toolbar.
    3. Locate your Identity item.
    4. Click Autofill.

That should do it. Let me know how it goes!

Hi -- thanks for replying. When I go to the menu bar icon -- I do NOT see an option for New Item. The Gear Icon offers me a new login -- but not new item. And if I select that I get a login screen to fill in -- not an identity option. Guess I'm overlooking osmehting? Using 1P 7 on macBook Air, OS Monterey. Thanks

@xandarar What version of the extension are you using? Can you take a screenshot of what you're seeing in 1Password extension popup and share that with me?

For help with taking screenshots, check out this link: https://www.take-a-screenshot.org. Make sure not to include any private or sensitive info (no need to show your passwords). This is an example of what I'm looking to see: https://share.cleanshot.com/vyjNHu

@xandarar sorry for the late reply. It looks like you have a Login item selected. I'm afraid that a Login item will not be able to fill any name fields (unless you create a custom field to hold the values and even then, it may not work).

To fill the first name and surname fields on that form, you would have to select an Identity item with that info. Your Identity items are here: https://share.cleanshot.com/9m5plx

To fill the email address and confirm email fields, you would have to click into them, review the suggestions provided by 1Password, and then select the suggestion you'd like to fill. An example of that can be seen here: https://share.cleanshot.com/0ahytK

If you are still unable to get things to fill, please share the URL of the form with me. Some of the URL is displayed but part of it is missing, so that's why I'm asking. Let me know if need more help!
