Safari extension always wants the main password even though auto lock is set to never in Preferences/security. This did not happen with version 7.

1Password Version: 8.9.10
Extension Version: 2.4.1
OS Version: macOS 12.6.1
Browser:_ Safari 16.1

  • Hi @johnzonie,

It sounds like 1Password in Safari may be having a hard time connecting with your 1Password app.

Before we go any further can you try the steps below:

    1. Right click the little 1Password icon on the top menu bar of your Mac (where the clock is) and select "Quit".
    2. Quit your browser by right clicking its icon in the Dock and selecting "Quit".
    3. Open and unlock 1Password.
    4. Open your browser and test if it is working properly.

Let us know how you get on!

Thanks Steph. You were correct. When I went to close Safari, I had to force quit. After that, I rebooted the Mac and signed into 1Password again. Then, when I went to a login screen in Safari, it worked as it should. So everything appears resolved!

    Thanks again,

    John
