upgrading an invididual account to family account

I'm having issues adjusting my current 1Password individual account to a family account. I tried doing the following but I didn't have the option in the sidebar, as decribed below:

  1. In your web browser, sign in to your account on
  2. Click Invite People in the sidebar and choose Upgrade to 1Password Families.
  3. Enter a name for your family account and click Upgrade Account.

I checked my subscriptions in the Apple app store and noticed that I have a 1Password7 subscription. I cancelled that to see if that was the issue but then wasn't able to purchase a family plan without creating a new account, which I want to avoid if possible.

Any tips for how to adjust my current individual account to a family account?
