Hi there. I downloaded the trial version of 1password and was setting up my account. but couldn't activate multi-factor authentication becuase of the error messge indicated above. per previous discussions, I checked the time of the phone and computer... and they are aligned (i.e. within 30 sec of each other). Is the problem that I am using a trial version? if not, can you please advise.

It's not a trial issue. Trial and subscription is the same, trial is just 14 days free subscription in advance.

Your time must be aligned to the service you're trying to login to get multi factor authentication work. The generated codes are derived from the device time. If your computer time is off and you sync your phone time to your computer time, it's still off in comparison to the service you're trying to login.

Usually, device time is synced to very reliable time services in the internet, so they are all synced globally. Make sure this time sync is actually working. Consult some internet time display website for a manual sync. Time is expected to be aligned within a few seconds. 30 seconds off is too much.

A correctly working automated time sync makes your device time synced globally within milliseconds. Not even one second off.

  • Hello @mpselvaggio,

Thanks for your question. As @Tertius3 mentioned (thanks 👍), time alignment is very important. You can go to https://time.is/ to compare your system clock to internet time. If it needs adjusting, that should help to solve the problem.

Please let us know if you run into any other troubles.
