How do I save passkeys to 1Password on Chrome?

I'm using Chrome on Mac, and my passkeys-based application does not function with 1Password. The code I'm using is very similar to this example which is also not supported: https://webauthn.io/

My username input (no password input) are are properly annotated with autocomplete="username webauthn" as per https://simplewebauthn.dev/docs/packages/browser, and I get prompts to "Save in 1Password", but no passkey is ever saved, only the username.

When I try to use the Register button and thus the WebAuthn APIs, no 1Password prompt is ever given.
