Feature request: for each password allow custom reminder to change password every XX days

Any possibility you could add a reminder to change password, and have a custom field of DAYS.
Some passwords can stay unchanged for, say, 1 year, on low important sites, but some, like shopping or banking sites, should be changed frequently. Some kind of reminder feature, perhaps in Watchtower, to tell you upcoming password change reminders, and perhaps a report of passwords which have not been changed in YY days.

    Hello @Jonathan2,

Thanks for your feature request. We've seen similar feedback from other customers looking for a way to implement a notification to change passwords. Where changes are required, Watchtower would be a useful tool to notify users when an expiration date has been reached, similar to a credit card expiration date. I've sent your feedback over to the Product team.

In the meantime, for passwords that are not required to be changed, I wanted to provide a blog written by a colleague - Do You Really Need to Change Your Password Every 90 Days?.

If you have any other questions or suggestions, please let us know!

It's not about whether 1Password think that long, strong passwords need to be changed every 60 or 90 days, it's about the system you are logging into. They will force you to change your password if they want. 1Password makes that easy, but I want to see the password age, and in fact I also have a subscription to NordPass and they already provide this. If I was doing a comparison between the two, at my next renewal, I'd have a minus against 1Password, and a plus for NordPass. When the Russia / Ukraine thing kicked off I dumped Kaspersky immediately and replaced the password manager that came with the Total package with NordPass and 1Password - really amazing for me to narrow it down to just two. And, I was looking for a VPN, so took NordVPN and NordPass together. Now I have been using 1Password, but where it fails to provide a feature, or where the staff at 1Password fail to hear, it makes me glad I can swap password managers at a click. I've invested a lot of time and effort using 1Password to change all my passwords, everywhere, so the hard work is done, and thanks to 1Password for making that pretty easy. Regardless, there are even passwords that I want to force a change every 60 or 90 days, regardless of what anybody says about how long it might take to crack it.

  • Hey @Jonathan2, thanks for the additional feedback. I'll pass this along to our Product team as well and note that this feature is a deal-breaker for you.
