8.10.4 shows warning on all LastPass imported items
I recently moved from LastPass to 1Password. (I love 1P and am glad I moved.)
My desktop app and iPhone app got updated to 8.10.4. Now, every imported record includes a warning about the LastPass data breach, suggesting that I change my password. I changed all important passwords while still using LP, well after the data breach, and of course use a very long and secure Master Password in 1P.
1) Is there a way to globally remove the warning? I do not want to see the warning, and I don't want to click Ignore every time I see it.
2) Every imported record came with a Tag - LastPass. I'd prefer to get rid of all of those tags. If I go to Tags in the desktop app left column and delete the LastPass tag, will that remove it from all imported records?
Thanks for your help.

Hello @JohnInCA,
Thanks for your message.
I understand that you changed your important passwords before moving over to 1Password. As Watchtower is seeing this as an exported item, it won't recognize the password was previously changed. The banners will remain on items until either the password is updated within 1Password or you ignore that banner. It's not possible to globally remove the banner from items.
With regard to the tags on imported items, if you right-click that tag >
Delete Tag
from the left sidebar, it will remove that tag from all associated items:Create and manage tags
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns. We'll be happy to help!

Sorry to piggy back, but clicking ignore does nothing. I have tried on multiple entries.

@j4bber, I see the same thing--clicking Ignore does nothing. I have not tried deleting the LastPass Tag, but perhaps that would disable the warning. Now that I've been using 1P for over six weeks, I find that I don't often need to go to specific items and therefore the warning doesn't annoy me as much as it did at first. By the way, I am very happy with 1Password, and I'm glad I made the move from LastPass. For my purposes, it is working perfectly.
I am also using 1P for Windows 8.10.5.

Hi @j4bber and @JohnInCA, thanks for letting us know that nothing is happening when you attempt to click Ignore on the Imported from LastPass alert. This definitely doesn't sound right, and I've gone ahead and filed an issue for the team to investigate this further.
If you have any further questions or concerns, let me know! π

Hi @1P_Gem, I had not tried the Ignore button in Watchtower, but I now see that the Ignore button works as I think it should from within Watchtower. When I select a Vulnerable password and click Ignore, the warning banner disappears. Unfortunately, I am seeing inconsistent behavior--clicking Ignore in Watchtower removes the banner in Watchtower, but when I then check the same Item in the All Items list, sometimes the banner is gone and sometimes it's still there. I can see no pattern for when the Ignore button used in Watchtower remove the banner there and in All Items. It doesn't work correctly often.
I just tried Watchtower > Imported from LastPass. Ignore works in Watchtower--the banner disappears when Ignore is clicked. However, the same item still shows the banner in All Items, and the Ignore button does nothing in All Items.
To conclude, Ignore works to remove the banner in Watchtower, but the same items still show the banner when returning to All Items. In a very few cases, the banner is removed from All Items after clicking Ignore in Watchtower. The behavior seems to be inconsistent.

Hi @1P_Gem, I'm curious to know if other users who have come to 1P from LastPass are seeing the same behavior that I'm seeing. One other user posted here, but I'm wondering if there are others. (Note that when I first migrated from LP to 1P, I used the 3-dot > Import tool and it worked perfectly.)

I am running 8.10.7 and am having the same problem. In the all list Ignore has no action and doesn't do anything.
It does remove it from watchtower listing, but because its all in random order that isn't any good either. I even changed a password for a site within 1password and it doesn't remove the banner. My website shows the lastpass banner after the change, however now I can't remove it because I can no longer find that website it in the watchtower list. This is really frustrating, after migrating to now have to go through all this here too. Chris

Hi @chrisintexas, thanks for reporting this!
To make sure that I'm understanding the specific behaviour that you're seeing before I pass it along to the team, could you let me know whether the following is correct? Clicking the Ignore button on the "Imported from LastPass" banner does remove it from the Watchtower list, however the banner remains in place at the top of the item, even after changing the password for it within 1Password.
Additionally, could you let me know whether you changed the password through the browser extension, or by manually editing it within the app itself?

In the App itself is where I am referencing.
So if I look at "All Items" it shows the banner, and if I click "Ignore" it doesn't do anything.
If I go to the particular site and change the password and save it, the banner is still there in the all items, however it has REMOVED it from the watch tower listing now.
This is the worst part I can remove the banner only from Watchtower, however now that I have changed the password, and its automatically removed it from watch tower its now stuck permanently on the "all items" list.
If I go directly into watch tower on another banner item, I can remove the banner by clicking ignore and that also removes it from the "All items" listing as well. That seems to work fine.
I have a catch 22 now that I have changed the password, I let 1password even pick and update it within the browser and it still shows the banner on the "all items" but now gone from watch tower list and can't remove it from the "all items".
Thanks,
Chris0 -
As I reported earlier, the Ignore button works in Watchtower, but it does not work in the All Items list. After ignoring in Watchtower, the banner is still there in All Items. Windows 11. 1P 8.10.7.

Hi @chrisintexas, thanks for getting back to me with this additional information, and thanks for letting me know that you're still running into this @JohnInCA! I've passed the details you've both provided along to our developers. I'll be back in touch if we need any more information, or if we have any news or steps to share π

Hi @chrisintexas and @JohnInCA! Our developers have let me know that a fix for this issue is currently available in the latest beta release. This fix should make its way into the stable release soon, although I'm not able to provide an exact timeline for this. If you'd like to give the fix a try beforehand, you can change your release channel to beta, and then wait for the next beta release (the switch over won't be immediate, as the current stable release is newer than the latest beta - we do apologise for the inconvenience here). You can learn how to change your release channel in the guide below:
Alternately, if you'd like to test this fix out immediately, you can follow the steps in the guide above, but switch to the nightly release channel instead.
It's important to note that our nightly channel is not as tested as our stable or beta releases, and you may run into bugs we haven't encountered yet.
I hope this helps, but if you have any questions or concerns, let us know π

Hi @1P_Gem,
Nice to hear that the developers have figured this out and will issue a fix. I've done beta testing for another software company in the past. Based on that, I'll wait for the final 1P stable release. I'm sure the beta is fine, but when it comes to my passwords, no beta for me. π
Many thanks..... John

Hi, I have the same issue so can you please just clarify that the issue you have fixed is the break between ignoring this warning message in all items and/or through watchtower. It is not to fix the original question of globally removing this warning. I am not sure why you don't give the users the option to do this. I have just decided to leave Lastpass and i imported 400 odd passwords - which I have to manually remove this warning from. Like a previous user said above I changed out passwords in Lastpass since the breech. I am on the free test try it out option and this is one of a few quirks I have found most annoying - many thanks

If I may repeat myself, I agree with @tanglewood that there should be an option to globally disable the LastPass warning in 1P. Like @tanglewood, I changed all of my important passwords in LastPass before migrating to 1P, so the 1P warning is irrelevant for me and (frankly) annoying. Thank you.

Hi @tanglewood! To confirm, the fix I mentioned is for the issue where ignoring the "Imported from LastPass" banner on an item doesn't work as intended.
I can definitely understand how an option to globally disable this warning would be very helpful in cases where users have already changed their passwords before importing, and thanks for weighing in on this as well @JohnInCA! I've filed a feature request for this with our product team, including all of the details you've both provided here.
If you have any further feedback or questions, let me know π

Thanks for your response @1P_Gem . I just decided to delete the LastPass tag that was generated by 1P on import and all of the warnings have gone seemingly. Is that right and the way to globally remove them, did I miss that earlier in the thread? The LastPass import on xxx tag is still there but doesn't seem to be the trigger for the warning - if so then issue solved for me

Hi @tanglewood, thanks for letting me know about this! I've not been able to test this out on my end, so I wasn't aware that removing the tag would also remove the banner π

Good work @tanglewood! Following your lead, I deleted the LastPass tag and now the banner is gone on all LP entries. Yay. Fixed.

Very glad to find this thread. I was in the same boat as the OP, and deleting the LastPass tag removed all LastPass warnings from items and from Watchtower. Excellent! (I've moved away from LastPass to 1Password because its features are significantly better, such as adding multiple urls to an item. That makes so much sense (LastPass has users create Vault-global 'equivalent domains' for the same purpose, which is cumbersome and too impactful.)

I was excited to see the solution from @tanglewood and tried a slightly modified approach that also worked. In the Windows desktop app, I renamed the LastPass tag rather than deleting it. Same result. All those warnings gone. The renamed tag still has the same items included as the LastPass import on xxx tag, so I'll probably delete the other. Just an experiment. Thanks, @tanglewood !!!
Another suggestion/request for 1Password from me, a new convert: I am often interested in the count of how many items are associated with a tag, a vault, etc. The count is inconveniently available at the bottom of the list, which is often very long. Why not put it at the top of the list, or even in parentheses next to the tag name, vault name, etc., like many other programs (especially email clients) do? One way or another, make the count conveniently visible without scrolling. I suppose I'll add this suggestion as a separate topic, but it was on my mind during this lastpass cleanup process.
