  • Hello @connett566! 👋

Are you trying to open an item in a window that will stay on top of other windows? If so then try these steps:

    1. Open Quick Access by pressing Shift-Command-Space bar.
    2. Search for and then select an item.
    3. Press Command-O to pin the item to the screen.

If that's not what you're looking for then let me know and I would be happy to help further. 🙂

Hi Dave - that is what I'm looking for. However, are used to be able to pin an item to my desktop simply by clicking on the 1Password item in my Firefox browser (upper right corner of FFbrowser window) then by searching for an item, then pinning it to the screen. For instance, if I had to input payment information into a website, I could pull up the c card information I needed in one password by clicking that little icon in the upper right corner of the Fire fox browser. Then there was a little menu in that 1P item that said, "pin item to screen" (or something like that), then it would be there as long as I needed it. That way I didn't actually have to open anything with the "shift command spacebar." Because I didn't need the item in that way. I just needed to open a 1P item tangentially for the website I was filling in. With the new 1P version8, that ability seems to be gone. There's no little drop-down that says "pin item "or anything like that. Can I still do it? THANKS! I hope I'm being clear I don't know the jargon.

You are correct there is not an option to use pin to screen which was present in previous versions. The suggestion Dave mentioned is what I use, when I need this functionality. If you are a fan of the desktop client you could open it, locate the item and then right-click on the item and select open in new window.

OK, thanks I appreciate it. Now I know that it just can't be done the way it used to be. Not sure why you guys removed that capability, but the new version seems to be superior in many other ways.

Thanks again Tommy, I checked out QUICK ACCESS. And that seems to help me do the thing that I wanted to do!

  • @connett566

I'm happy that Tommy was able to help. 🙂

I've also filed a feature request on your behalf to have the product team look into restoring the old behaviour here as well. Thank you for the feedback!
