PSA: For passkeys, move 1P app *and* browser extension into beta
Took me forever to figure out why I was not offered to save passkeys into 1P. Both desktop app and browser extension must be in the beta channel. In all fairness, the blog post today says beta extensions, But I've been running the beta of the desktop app forever and had naively assumed that the browser extension (chrome) would be in beta too. Not so. Had to manually install the beta extension, and now passkeys work.

Hey @fuchsr,
I'm sorry that this wasn't clear, I'm glad you have figured it out.
It's great to hear that you are keen to use passkeys, let us know if you have any questions at all!

I'm running the production App (8.10.7) on macOS with the Safari/Firefox beta extensions and I can save passkeys.
So the "and" is wrong?

Saving and filling passkeys requires the beta extension (not yet available for mobile). It doesn't require the beta desktop app.
Watchtower identifying where passkeys are available requires the beta desktop app.
For the best passkey experience, I'd recommend both.
