Issues with desktop app and Okta

Hey hey,

Lately, we've been getting a lot of tickets from people who need help signing in to the desktop Mac app using Okta. The error they get, when they click the button, is

We weren't able to sign in to your account. Maybe there's a typo?

But there's not typo since auth should be directly from Okta 😅 web works perfectly fine. Current solution is to remove all of 1password's data (https://support.1password.com/uninstall-1password/#to-remove-your-1password-data-mac) but that's not a feasible solution for all the tickets as it takes a lot of time.

Any other admins notice this behaviour?

  • Hello @Zeo,

When your team encounters this error, ask them to double check the sign-in address they are using in the 1Password for Mac app. The default sign in address, my.1password.com, isn't correct for a business account where a team member is signing in with Okta. If necessary, an account owner can find the correct sign-in address on their Emergency Kit and share it with the team. In most cases, using the correct sign-in address will allow them to sign in as expected.

If they are still having issues, or your team isn't aware of the correct sign-in address to use, have the team member email support@1password.com, or contact us on their behalf and we'll be glad to help.

    Thank you,
