1Password Safari Extension does not unlock with watch after Mac was in sleep mode
Normally when one clicks on the 1password icon in a password field on a webpage in Safari, the option appears to unlock with Apple Watch/account password.
After the Mac has been in sleep mode, the same icon will launch 1Password App instead and require the full master password. This is not related to the 30 day limit requiring the password to be entered.
- Quitting the 1password app and double clicking the 1password icon again in the password field will launch the correct "Apple Watch dialog" again.
- Relaunching Safari also solves the issue
1Password Version: 8.10.7
Extension Version: 2.11.0
OS Version: 13.4
Browser:_ Safari

Hello @damcify! 👋
I'm sorry that you're running into trouble when unlocking 1Password using your Apple Watch after your Mac wakes from sleep. Our developers are tracking an issue in macOS that sounds similar to this. The next time that you're unable to unlock 1Password using your Apple Watch, then, as a troubleshooting test, can you tell me what happens when you try the following:
- Click on the in the menu bar.
- Click System Settings.
- Click Privacy & Security.
- Click Advanced.
- As a temporary troubleshooting step, turn on "Log out automatically after inactivity".
- You'll now see a macOS system prompt asking you to confirm the action. You should receive a double-tap notification on your Apple Watch.
Are you able to use the Apple Watch to authenticate the macOS system prompt? Once this test is complete you can turn off "Log out automatically after inactivity" if you wish.
I look forward to hearing from you. 🙂
-Dave
