I have a new iPhone and am unable to add 1Password to my Microsoft Authenticator.
I am able to produce the activation QR code in 1Password, but I am unable to capture the code in the Authenticator. The Authenticator gives me an error message "Invalid Activation Code" when I try to capture the QR code. I there a problem with the QR code or is there another way to add 1Password to the Authenticator? Thank you

Hello @ssrauh! 👋
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble adding the one-time password for your 1Password account to Microsoft Authenticator. Is it possible that you're scanning the QR code on either your Emergency Kit or the setup code on 1Password.com? If you are then these QR codes actually contain some of your account information and not the TOTP secret for enabling two-factor authentication for your account.
Can you try these specific steps to scan the QR code for two-factor authentication:
- Log in to your 1Password account on 1Password.com (in the browser, not the app).
- Click your name in the top right and choose My Profile.
- Click More Actions > Manage Two-Factor Authentication.
- Click Set Up App. You’ll see a square barcode (QR code).
- On your mobile device, open the Microsoft Authenticator app and use it to scan the QR code. After you scan the QR code, you’ll see a six-digit authentication code.
- On 1Password.com, click Next. Enter the six-digit authentication code, then click Confirm.
Let me know if that doesn't work and I can help further. 🙂

I can get to the Manage Two-factor Authentication screen, but do not see "click to set up app"?? There is a statement on the screen that I have two factor authentication turned on.

Thank you for the reply. It sounds like you've already setup two-factor authentication in the past. If you can't find your one-time password then you can replace the Authenticator app that you currently have setup and use Microsoft Authenticator instead.
After clicking on Manage Two-Factor Authentication, click on Replace and then click on Set Up New Authenticator App. You'll be presented with a new QR code that you can scan using the Microsoft Authenticator app.
Let me know if you run into any issues.

Dave, your suggestion worked fine for my iPhone. But, I have a 1Password Family account that includes my wife. She also has a new iPhone. I was going to attempt to replicate your suggestion, I logged into to her 1Password account on her browser, but I get a message requesting an Authenticator code, which of course I do not have since 1Password is not set up yet on her Authenticator. I do not know how to get past this.

I'm happy to hear that the suggestion worked on your iPhone and the team can help with the issue that is happening on your wife's account as well. Since I don't have access to any account information here on the public forums, I recommend that your wife send an email to support+forum@1Password.com so that our support team can take a look and advise further. After emailing in, she'll receive a reply from BitBot, our friendly robot assistant with a Support ID that looks something like [#ABC-12345-678]. Post that here, and I'll be able to locate the message and make sure it's gotten to the right place. 🙂
