Apple Card CVV with 1Password

The Apple Card has a security feature that can be enabled which changes the CVV code from time to time. 1Password has conveniently saved my Apple Card information, but it includes the CVV code that is now outdated. For those who've enabled this Apple Card feature, can you include a switch to turn off saving CVV code that would prevent unintentionally entering the wrong code?

If this is more complexity than it's worth, I'll edit the info to delete the CVV, but 1Password may pick it up again.

  • Hello @judmarc,

Thanks for your feedback and feature request. To confirm I'm understanding correctly, are referring to saving the CVV to a newly created Credit Card Item or a switch to turn off filling the CVV field from an existing item?

Could you also let us know how you're handling this currently? I'd be happy to pass any extra details you can provide along to our Product team for review.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Hi -

Same situation whether the card is new or existing. This Apple Card number exists only on the phone, and the CVV changes constantly for security purposes, if the user has this feature turned on. It could differ from morning to afternoon of the same day. So there’s no point in saving a field that constantly changes, and it would be nice to allow Apple Card users who have this feature turned on to elect not to save this field.

What I do now is highlight the old incorrect CVV and type in the updated correct one. If the outdated CVV wasn’t saved it would eliminate the chance a user might forget, submit the outdated CVV, then have to reenter card information and resubmit it.

  • Hello again @judmarc,

    Thanks for the follow up.

So there’s no point in saving a field that constantly changes, and it would be nice to allow Apple Card users who have this feature turned on to elect not to save this field.

When creating a new, or editing an existing Credit Card item within 1Password, the verification number field (CVV) is a part of the template, but isn't a required to have the number added to this field.

If the outdated CVV wasn’t saved it would eliminate the chance a user might forget, submit the outdated CVV, then have to reenter card information and resubmit it.

Since the CVV number changes frequently, and depending on how often this number changes, it might be better to remove the number saved to this field and manually copy/type the latest CVV number from your phone, as you're doing now. This way you're ensured to always be entering the most current CVV number.

I hope this helps, but if you have further questions or additional feedback, please let us know!
