1Password on Desktop (Windows 11)

Each time I click on the 1Password icon on my desktop. I get the popup asking if I want to install 1Password 8. Is that normal behavior, as opposed to just installing it once? Just a minor issue, but slightly inconvenient.

  • Hi @JADJr,

    Thanks for writing in.

What is the full filename of that icon on your desktop? It sounds like you're double-checking the installer file (it may have 1PasswordSetup in the name) instead of the 1Password application file. We do not create the desktop icon for you during the installation, only the start menu shortcut.

Try starting 1Password from the start menu or taskbar if you have it pinned there. If that works without prompting you to install, you may want to trash the 1Password icon on the desktop and create a shortcut once more.
