How to let ssh agent pass through when 1Password is unlocked?

I am using SSH key in 1P which can be picked up by git in the terminal when signing commits and pulling/pushing from origin.

It's slightly inconvenient that every time I open a new terminal instance, and I run a git pull/push for the first time in that terminal, 1P keeps asking for authentication for the SSH key, regardless if 1P is currently unlocked (indicating that I have authenticated to 1P currently). Obviously, this only happens once per new terminal instance.

Is there a way to tell 1P SSH agent to check if I am logged in to 1P and if so, not to ask for authentication?

  • By default, the agent asks for approval to use the SSH key for each new application upon making a first SSH request. If you think that is too strict, there's the "Approve for all applications" checkbox in the prompt you can consider using.
