Red Hat 2FA - 1Password Browser extension issue

Please can you help? I have enabled the use of 2FA on my Red Hat log in IDs. The one-time passwords were created by using the smartphone to scan the QR Code on screen into the Android App. Using the 2FA code on the 1Password app on the Android smartphone works fine. But the 2FA code generated on the 1Password browser extension in Chrome is different, and thus fails to work. It's a bit inconvenient when you think the browser extension has got it covered, but it hasn't.
If it helps, I have come across certain other 2FAs where this happens, but somehow they work Ok, so I'm not sure what exactly is going on behind the scenes here.

Kind regards, Ben.

1Password Version: 8.10.9
Extension Version: 2.13.0
OS Version: Android App
Browser: Chrome

SOLVED! - I've seen the light!!! :) Synchronised the time with a public NTP server for all my systems. Now all 2FA codes are the same, in sync and working. Hurrah!

  • Hey @uwalakab,

Thank you for getting back to us to let us know you resolved the issue.

That's right, 2FA is highly reliant on the device's clock.

Let us know if there is anything else we can help with at all.
