Adding a passkey to an existing item renames it and adds another website entry
When you add a passkey to an existing vault item on iOS, it changes item's name to be the domain for which the passkey was added, and it also adds the domain as another website entry. For example, my TikTok item was renamed to tiktok.com
and a website of https://tiktok.com
was added. Ideally this wouldn't happen.
Similarly, when adding a passkey on desktop platforms, the exact page on which the passkey was added is added to the vault item as another website. For example, my Twitter item received a new website of https://twitter.com/i/flow/two-factor-security-key-enrollment
.
Another minor issue: adding a passkey to 1Password from an app (e.g. CardPointers, TikTok) fails unless you do the QR code dance and add it to 1Password on a second device.

Hello @elyscape and @michaelyork! 👋
Thank you for trying passkeys! I'll respond below:

This is a known issue and our developers are investigating. I've added both of your reports to the internal work item open for the issue.
Similarly, when adding a passkey on desktop platforms, the exact page on which the passkey was added is added to the vault item as another website. For example, my Twitter item received a new website of https://twitter.com/i/flow/two-factor-security-key-enrollment.
Thank you for the feedback. 1Password will add the passkey settings page URL when you save a passkey for an existing item. I've let the team know that you'd prefer not to have the additional URL saved to your Login items.
Another minor issue: adding a passkey to 1Password from an app (e.g. CardPointers, TikTok) fails unless you do the QR code dance and add it to 1Password on a second device.
We are working with our partners at Apple to find a resolution to this issue. You can continue to create and sign in using passkeys, with 1Password, in the Safari app.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

iOS 17.2 was just released by Apple and it includes a fix for the issue where saving and signing in with passkeys using 1Password in iOS apps didn't work. You can find instructions on how to update here:
If you're still having trouble after updating to iOS 17.2 then please let me know. 🙂
