Feature Request - Account donation or succession after death
Hello,
I have a Family plan with 1password with my family members. My dad wanted to know what would happen in case that he wants to share all his data after his death. I think that in our society, the digital legacy is not really contemplated.
Right now, the only solution I see is for him to share the secret key and the password in his will (or telling us where he has stored this information). I would like to know if someone can think of a current better solution or if a new feature can be implemented in 1password for this type of scenarios.
Thanks

Hi @Lluc,
When creating a 1Password account, you are prompted to save what is called the Emergency Kit as a PDF.
Included in the Emergency Kit is the sign-in address for the account, the email address associated with the account, the Secret Key for the account (which is required when logging into the account from a new device), a QR code and lastly, a blank space that your account password can be filled into.
My suggestion would be to either put this in a location listed in your will to make it available to the necessary persons at the point when it is required or to include a secondary copy in your will itself. Something like that would be the best suggestion I can provide you with!
With that said, while I can't make any promises, I've filed a feature request internally to bring this to the attention of our team. They regularly review feature requests from our customers to consider what should be added or changed to future versions of 1Password. Your feedback, along with feedback from our other customers, helps them immensely with their planning.
Thank you again for your suggestion, we appreciate your feedback and love hearing from you - Please let me know if you ever have other ideas on how we could improve 1Password or if there is anything else I can help you out with!

Thanks for your response.
Yes, using the emergency kit is what I thought as first solution.
Thanks for filling in the feature request. I don't know if it will be possible but maybe someone comes up with a digital solution that helps people pass it's digital information legacy to other people.
Thanks again!
