[Suggestion] - Adding a warning when editing certain items in 1password logins

I've wanted to suggest this feature because I think it would result in users having fewer regrets and accidents.

What I thought was that when a user wanted to edit or remove a really important detail at a certain 1Password saved login (like, for example, one-time passwords, passkeys, passwords, or something like that), hitting "save" 1Password would require a small verification, such as typing the name of the website or vault where the saved login that is being edited is currently stablished.

Although it may sound, for some of you, a bit stupid to add this, I also suggest that this would be an option where users could enable or disable it in the settings. But I think it would be great because adding this type of small verification can make users cause fewer accidents, like, for example, locking themselves out of one-time passwords (or 2FA) or accidentally editing an important password or detail of their login.

As a new user of 1Password, I am really enjoying this experience. Each day, I am trying to learn a new thing with its app and extension, which is why I decided to share this suggestion because I think it would greatly improve the users experience in the future.

Thank you so much for reading my suggestion!

  • Hi there @alicezinha

Your 1Password items are versioned, meaning that if you make (and save) and edit to an item by mistake, you can roll that change back:

View and restore previous versions of items

Try making a change to a test item and following the instructions shown in that article and let me know how you get on. I'll be here if you have any questions about it. :)

  • Hello again @alicezinha,

Thanks for your suggestion of adding this feature to the 1Password client app. We're continuing work to better align the functionality of 1Password.com with the 1Password app, but I have no further news to share at this time.

However, when it comes to password history, this guide explains how you can:

Please let us know if you have any further suggestions or feedback to share.
