Simplify duplicating an item in the same vault

I often have the need to create items similar to other items (same tags, same fields, same vault, similar name). I currently use the "Duplicate..." feature to do this. This works well, except for one detail:

The "Save a copy of this item to:" dialog lists all vaults, which can be quite a lot. If you want to duplicate the item into the same vault, you need to find it again. This can be error-prone.

Suggestion: Somehow highlight the current vault and put it at the top. This would simplify the use case of "duplicate into same vault". It could also enhance the use case of "duplicate into a different vault" because you would know you can skip over the first vault in the list.

  • Hello @JanMelcherAEB,

Thanks for message and suggestions. The Duplication function and "Save a copy of this item to:" dialog is used as a single function and was wondering if the below workflow might work better for you when you need to duplicate to the same vault.

If you have multiple accounts, duplicating an item from a particular account, that account will always appear at the top of the "Save a copy of this item to:" dialog. Next, you can use the search function to locate the vault you need to duplicate the item to.

Could you let me know how vaults you are working with and do you are using multiple accounts signed into 1Password?

I'd like to get a better feel for the potential troubles you are referring to, so I can file your suggestions with our Product team.

I'm looking forward to your reply!

    Hi,

thanks for your reply. I have two accounts: One corporate, and one personal. Indeed, the corporate account always shows up at the top when I duplicate a corporate item.

However, within the corporate account, I currently have access to 25 vaults. These vaults are sorted alphabetically.

  • Hello again @JanMelcherAEB,

I appreciate your quick follow up. I can't promise any changes can or will be made here, but I'm happy to pass these details and suggestions along to our team for consideration.

In the meantime, using the Search for a vault function would be the current best go to:
