Currently 1Password isn't working with Floorp, Floorp is a rising star web browser recently but 1Password doesn't support Floorp, which makes it harder for 1Password users to switch from Firefox to Floorp, please consider adding Floorp.

1Password Version: latest
Extension Version: latest
OS Version: Windows 10
Browser: Floorp

  • Hi @footmen,

    We are continuously working on extending support for trusted web browsers. Currently, we can add the Floorp browser as a trusted browser in macOS and 1Password can work seamlessly there.

    However, I apologize that the feature is not available yet on Windows (it is on our product roadmap). Hopefully, it would arrive soon.

    Has there been any update on this? I'm assuming not as it still doesn't work.

    I saw on Mac there is the option to add additional browsers via the 'browser' setting tab. Is there any equivalent for 1pass in any of the config files or anything?

    Would really love for this to work and have been patiently watching this thread but seems like it's probably low priority.

  • @Drewdle

    Thanks for reaching out. Are you using Windows or Linux?

    I look forward to hearing from you. 🙂

    Thank you letting me know that you're using Windows. At this time, the custom trusted browsers feature is only available for macOS and I'll let the team know that you'd like to see it made available for Windows as well in the future. Thank you for the feedback.

    For the time being, you might still be able to use the 1Password extension with Floorp by installing 1Password in the browser from the Firefox add-ons store but you'll need to unlock it separately from the desktop app using your account password.

    Hey there,

    I'd just like to add that I'm also keen to see support for Floorp browser with 1Password. I'm on Windows 11 and the add-on works just fine, but yeah it'd be nice if the unlocking were integrated with the desktop app. I moved away from Chrome recently and having to separately unlock the browser isn't the worst thing in the world, but it's definitely inconvenient.

    Thanks for your hard work!

    @barneydesmond

    Thank you for the request and for the kind words!

    As mentioned earlier in the thread, the team is focused on our new custom trusted browsers feature rather than adding support for individual browsers. Custom trusted browsers allow users to use any browser of their choice with 1Password even if they're not officially supported. The feature is already available for macOS and I'll let the team know that you'd like to see it released for Windows as well.

    So when Arc for Windows gets released in closed beta at the start of 2024 it very quickly gets added to trusted browsers by 1Password developers but when people ask for Floorp we have to wait for you to finally add the trusted browser feature? At least give us a toggle to allow all unknown browsers if it takes that long to add a selection feature. its kind of absurd

    Dead silence. If I cannot use a browser I want to use - I'm out, my autorenewal is off.

  • @PixelHir

    Arc for Mac had previously gone through the previous process, which required extensive vetting of each individual browser, and was already on the trusted browsers list when Arc for Windows was released so that work didn't need to be done again for Windows.

    We don't have plans to add other browsers on an individual basis using the old method and we're focused on the custom trusted browsers feature so that folks are able to use any browser they wish to use with 1Password in the future. There are many different browsers that users have requested support for and custom trusted browsers will allow everyone the use of their favourite browser with 1Password.

    The custom trusted browsers feature has been a hit on the Mac and I've let the product team know that you'd like to see it be introduced for Windows as well. Thank you for the feedback!

    Are there any updates for this feature, or has it been scrapped in favour of other features?

    I’m very interested in this, and as this thread. shows I’m certainly not the only one ^^.

    I find the list of approved browsers to be very suspicious to say the least. 1Password handpicked some select browsers, recently discovered that Opera even though being older than Arc seems to have no support as well! This feels really anticonsumer to be favoritising some browsers over other and considering how little attention is given to the issue on Windows after such long time I'm disappointed. My autorenewal for 1password subscription is off and once the time runs out I'm migrating away. I'm tired of meaningless words and promises

    @zyreph

    I don't have any updates to share at the moment. The team still hopes to bring the ability to add unsupported browsers to 1Password for Windows but other work has needed to be prioritized for now.

    @PixelHir

    You should be able to install the 1Password browser extension in Floorp but you'll need to unlock it separately from the desktop app using your account password due to a security feature that deliberately prevents the desktop app from sending your data to unknown apps that our team hasn't vetted. This security feature exists for the security and privacy of the data that you store in 1Password.

    I agree that users should be able to choose which browser they use with 1Password. The ability to add trusted browsers of your own (that we haven't vetted ourselves) is currently available for 1Password on both Mac and Linux. Hopefully a similar feature is built and released for Windows in the future as well, I'll continue to pass along your feedback to the team.

    @Dave_1P "You should be able to install the 1Password browser extension in Floorp but you'll need to unlock it separately from the desktop app [...]".

    Sadly this is not available for customers which use a non us 1password account (e.g. eu). Every time i try to manually login the browser extension, i can only login to 1Password.com and not 1Password.eu, as switching to the EU Region will forward you to the eu domain, which the extension does not recognize as being the same login attempt/session :(. Changing the region will then just log you into the web vault but not into the actual browser extension.

    Therefore, its not only cumbersome to use unsupported browsers on windows, but down right not possible if you are not using a us server account. Could this be addressed in the future? :)

    @zyreph

    I'm sorry that you're running into issues when adding your account to the browser extension. We're limited in how much assistance we can provide for browsers that we don't regularly test or support but I'll help as much as possible. I was able to add a .EU account to the 1Password browser extension in Floorp on my own device, try this:

    1. Open Floorp.
    2. Install the 1Password browser extension from the Mozilla add-ons store.
    3. Click on the 1Password icon in the browser's toolbar.
    4. Click Sign In on the welcome page.
    5. A sign-in page will open. Scroll down and change your region from .COM to .EU in the dropdown menu:

    image

    1. Enter your account information and sign in.
    2. Click Add account to add your 1Password account to the browser extension when prompted.

    image

    1. Wait a few moments until you see a notification that your account was added successfully.

    image

    Let me know if that doesn't work.

    Sorry for the late reply, this actually works! I haven't tried to do this in the last few months, but I don't think there was a popup as described in 7 the last time I tried to do this. Maybe I just missed it back then >.<.

    Thanks for the quick reply, I really appreciate it! :)

    I'm happy that those steps worked for you and that you were able to add your .EU account to 1Password in Floorp. 🙂

    I understand I can use the extension, but it's just annoying to not be able to use the desktop app link. having to retype my full password and not being able to use Windows Hello every browser restart is just tiresome. Hence my issues.

    I've shared your feedback with the team.

    Thanks for reaching out. After installing the 1Password browser extension in Floorp, if you're using 1Password on a Mac, you can add Floorp as an additional trusted browser so that you can enable app integration with 1Password in Floorp:

    1. Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
    2. Click on 1Password next to the  in the menu bar.
    3. Click Settings.
    4. Click Browser.
    5. Click Add Browser and add Floorp.

    Keep in mind that Floorp is not a supported browser and you may run into unforeseen issues since we haven't tested it.

    If you're using 1Password on a Windows PC, this feature isn't yet available but the team hopes to release it in the future. You should still be able to use the 1Password extension with Floorp on your Windows PC by installing 1Password in the browser from the Firefox add-ons store but you'll need to unlock it separately from the desktop app using your account password.

    Thanks @Dave_1P

    So the issue was that the "Connect to additional browsers" section in the "1Password app > Settings > Browser", was not visible for me;

    I e-mailed Support, the solution was:

    1. Make sure you have a copy of your Emergency Kit or another device signed in to 1Password nearby, and that you know your account password before you start. This applies to every 1Password account, if you have multiple.
    2. Open and unlock 1Password.
    3. Click the 🔽 down arrow at the top of the sidebar and choose Settings.
    4. On the Advanced tab, click Reset 1Password.
    5. Sign back in to your 1Password account.

    After these steps, the section was visible, and i could add the Floorp browser.

    @Dave_1P Are you able to speak to this being supported on Windows in the future?

  • Hey there, @addy.

    We hope the team releases the Trusted Browser feature to Windows in the future. Although we don't have a specific timeline, I have relayed your feedback to our product team to highlight your interest in supporting this on Windows.

    I hope that helps.

    Just putting in my support for getting this feature added sooner vs later for Windows. I'm at a point where the only thing holding me back from switching browsers is 1Password and that's disconcerting as 1Password is the only extension I pay for. I consider password managers a requirement for my daily computing needs as an IT admin.

  • Thank you for the report, @mysterythin. I've shared your feedback.
