When I set up a passkey using the new Google system, 1Password popped up to save it. It made the Google setup fail

I'd prefer to use Google to manage passkeys for compatiablity - can I disable the 1Password popup?

1Password Version: 8.10.18
Extension Version: 2.16.0
OS Version: 13.6
Browser: Chrome

  • Hello @jgsfca! 👋

I'm sorry that you're having trouble saving your Google passkey. Have you tried following the steps in this guide: Save and sign in with passkeys in your browser

What exactly happens when you click Save in the 1Password passkey prompt that appears?

Like Google, 1Password adheres to the FIDO passkey standard and is compatible with passkeys that are offered by websites that adhere to the standard. Can you tell me a little more about what you mean by "compatibility"?

can I disable the 1Password popup?

If you'd like to avoid using 1Password to save and sign in with passkeys then you can follow these steps:

    1. Open your browser.
    2. Right-click on the 1Password icon in the toolbar and click Settings.
    3. Click Autofill.
    4. Turn off "Offer to save and sign in with passkeys".
