Export and Delimiter?
Hello,
In Europe, I think that the ";" is a more common delimiter than the ",".
Currently, when I do an export, I have to edit the generated csv, do a change all to get the delimiter, do a save and then only import in xls.
= > Is it not possible to offer the choice of delimiter when exporting?
Thanks in advance ;-)

Hey @DeciusMus, thanks for reaching out.
I'll be happy to submit a feature request on your behalf. Before I do so, could you tell me a little more about your use case for this? For instance, are you exporting often and if so, is there a particular reason for that?
Any additional details would be greatly appreciated.

Hey @AliH1P,
thanks for your reply.
I export once a month.
why?
Because even if I wish you the best (and I took you because I think you're in the top "password keepers"), there's no guarantee that you won't have a technical problem, a bankruptcy,...
= > and then I'm in trouble
So I find it normal to make a monthly backup of all 250 internet accounts of my family :-).CQFD

In general, I don't recommend exporting your passwords since that will remove them from the secure and encrypted environment of 1Password. Any exported copy of your passwords will be in plain text and so will be readable by anyone who views it. In addition to this if you change any of your passwords in the future the exported copy will become outdated.
Your 1Password account ensures that your data is already backed up on the cloud. If you ever accidentally delete an item you can always restore it using 1Password.com: View and restore previous versions of items

Your encrypted data is replicated to redundant copies on our end to guard against any data loss. In addition to this, even if our servers were to disappear tomorrow your data is available locally on all of your devices wherever you're using the 1Password app.

Can you tell me a little more about why you change the delimiter? Why not just leave it as a comma? Are you importing the export using software that requires a semicolon as the delimiter?
I look forward to hearing from you. 🙂

hello,
"Your encrypted data is replicated to redundant copies on our end to guard against any data loss. In addition to this, even if our servers were to disappear tomorrow your data is available locally on all of your devices wherever you're using the 1Password app".
I understand your reasoning perfectly. ;-)
For my part, I have an encrypted folder with my confidential information that is not accessible to any provider.
It's my choice to be able to store my raw data in a 'safe' environment accessible only to me and my family.
(I'm not a conspiracy theorist... it's just that I'm 58 and I've seen a lot of service companies disappear..."Can you tell me a little more about why you change the delimiter? Why not just leave it as a comma? Are you importing the export using software that requires a semicolon as the delimiter?"
comma is used mainly by English speakers.
the semicolon is used by French speakers ;-)0 -
Hi @DeciusMus, thanks for getting back to us! I've gone ahead and filed a feature request on your behalf, including all of the details you've provided in this thread.
While I can't make any promises as to if or when you might see the ability to select a delimiter added, you can keep an eye on our release notes for news: 1Password Releases
If you have any additional questions or feedback, let us know!
