Safari Extension Not Using Touch ID

I'm using the 1Password extension for Safari v2.17.1 in Safari 17.1
I have enabled Profiles - and 1Password is enabled in each profile.
The extension successfully unlocks 1Password and is able to read my passwords.
HOWEVER every time I try to use the extension it demands my 1Password password, even though I have it set to use TouchID

1Password Version: 8.10.20
Extension Version: 2.17.1
OS Version: Sonoma 14.1
Browser: Safari

  • Hey @Wierdostomps,

I'm sorry for the trouble you are having with 1Password in Safari, it sounds like it may be having a hard time connecting with your 1Password app.

Can you start by giving these steps a try and let me know if it improves things at all:

    1. Right click the little 1Password icon on the top menu bar of your Mac (where the clock is) and select "Quit".
    2. Quit your browser by right clicking its icon in the Dock and selecting "Quit".
    3. Open and unlock 1Password.
    4. Open your browser and test if it is working properly.

Let us know how you get on!

    Thanks Steph
That - and/ or upgrading to Sonoma 14.1.2 which I did at the same time - has fixed it.

I'm happy that Touch ID is now working with 1Password for Safari on your Mac. 🙂
