Can I disable autofill of identities without disabling autofill of logins/passwords?

I understand the intent behind the identity autofill feature but I find it more annoying than useful, especially in Mobile Safari. Often the feature overlays a dropdown on top of a form field where there is nothing useful to pick from 1password's suggestions (obscuring the form I am trying to fill in) or otherwise getting certain fields wrong.

For example:

I know that I can disable this by disabling autofill completely, but I find the autofill suggestions for logins/passwords very useful and would like to keep that enabled.

Is there a way to disable just the autofilling of identity info?

  • Hello @mattnworb! Thank you for writing in. I'm sorry for any frustration caused by this, there isn't a way to only disable autofill for identities. However, I'm happy to share your feedback with our product team in support of this.

I wanted to mention that the issue you shared in the screenshot from our website has been resolved in the latest release of 1Password for Safari but the update hasn't made it's way to the mobile version yet.

I understand that this might not be the only website you're experiencing this issue with, but as a temporary workaround, you can turn off the autofill suggestions on field focus. That way you can choose to show/hide the autofill menu suggestions when clicking on the 1Password icon within a field. Here's how:

    On a Mac:
    1. Right-click the 1Password icon in the browser's toolbar and select "Settings".
    2. In the Autofill section, turn off "Show autofill suggestions when a form field is in focus".

    On iOS:
    1. Open the 1Password for Safari pop-over.
    2. Tap the "Menu" icon ( ☰ ) and select "Settings".
    3. Under Autofill, turn off "Show autofill menu on field focus".

    I hope that helps!
