I'd like1Password to autofill passwords, but not contact information. I see about a year ago you addressed this, but I didn't totally understand the explanation. I want to use Safari autofill for contact and credit card fields, but 1Password for passwords. Can this be done?

  • Hey @hartofak,

Currently it is not possible to disable filling for specific item types without disabling autofill for your passwords too. I'd be happy to put in a request with our product team to see if this is something we can add in a future update.

Our team love to hear specific use cases so any detail you can provide on why you prefer to use Safari to autofill your contact and credit card details instead of 1Password would be really helpful and I can pass this on.

    Thank you!

Two reasons, really. One is that I've spent years getting Safari just the information I want and I don't want to have to start training 1Password to do what I've already fine-tuned. The other reason is that your autofill options seem insanely intrusive. Once I start typing in a field, the autofill suggestions remain in front of all the fields I still have to fill making it so much HARDER than it has to be to just fill in a form.

Thanks for posting your use case! Although 1Password does work best when you save everything there (since then your information will be available on every device regardless of which browser you use), I've filed a feature request with our product team to have them look into adding an option to turn off suggestions just for identity fields.

Here's an option that might help, although it will apply to both identity and login fields:

    1. Open Safari.
    2. Right-click on the 1Password icon in Safari's toolbar and click Settings.
    3. Click Autofill.
    4. Turn off "Show autofill suggestions when a form field is in focus".

Now 1Password won't show suggestions until you actually click on the 1Password icon in the field. I hope that helps!
