Safari Extension Not Showing Custom Icons
I have a custom icon for some logins. While the Safari extension (iOS and macOS) shows regular 1Password-provided rich website icons, it simply shows the monogram icon if the item icon is a custom one set by me. See example attached below. I should also note that the Chrome and Firefox extensions do not have this issue, and the custom icon displays as expected in all the 1Password apps except the Apple Watch app (which could also be considered an oversight but is less important to me).
1Password Version: 1Password for iOS 8.10.24
Extension Version: 1Password browser extension version 2.18.2
OS Version: iOS 17.2.1
Browser: Safari 17.2

Off topic, I love the name.
I'm unable to reproduce this behavior using the latest version of 1Password in the browser. Can you check to see if you have the following enabled?
- Right-click on the 1Password in the browser toolbar icon.
- Select Settings.
- Select appearance.
- Ensure the option for Show app and website icons is enabled.

Off topic, thanks ^_^.
I definitely have that enabled. Are you using Safari (either macOS or iOS) and setting the item to a custom icon (not just a rich icon) to reproduce this? As I mentioned above, the Chrome and Firefox extensions show my custom icons just fine, and Safari has no problem showing the default website icon, it's when I set a custom icon that the item icon becomes the monogram.
Safari showing the default rich icon:
Brave showing the custom icon (just the screenshot from my first post for the sake of reproducibility) and Safari showing the monogram:

Mac, and a custom icon for the item for sure. I am using the nightly of 1Password 8 and the production of 1Password for Safari. I wonder if that is the missing piece? I apologize it slipped my mind earlier.

Ah, forgot to specify. The custom icon does show up just fine in the 1Password for Safari extension menu as in your screenshot, but the issue is present in in-line autofill specifically as in my screenshots. Let me know if you can’t reproduce the issue in in-line autofill specifically.

Yeah, I can reproduce that. One of my colleagues recently opened a bug report for this behavior. I'll get your report included in that bug tracker.

Hello, are there any updates on that issue?
I have a lot of custom icons and none show up in the extension’s auto-fill suggestion. Also, when in private browsing mode none of the custom icons show up. This is true also for iOS and iPad Safari extensions.
System: iOS 17.5.1 / iPadOS 17.5.1

The issue is still open in our developer's backlog, I've let them know that you're still affected. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Just updating that it appears this is still an issue.
Have this forum post that also relates to this issue:
Very frustrating that this hasn't been fixed in almost a year.

Thank you for following up. The issue being discussed in this thread is still open in our developer's backlog. I'd like to better understand your situation so that I can pass that along to the appropriate team:
- Are all icons not showing up in 1Password for Safari? Or just some?
- For the icons that aren't showing up, are you using custom icons?
- Are you able to share the website addresses of the affected websites?
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi @Dave_1P
Glad to help answer some questions!
- Only some. Seems to more closely correlate to issues with new(er) added entries.
- Seems to really only impact custom added icons
- Prime example of a site with issues: piloteers.org, caredge.com
Let me know if there's anything else I can help provide!

Thank you for that information! I've reproduced the issue on those websites and added this information to the internal work item that we have open for the bug with our development team. I'm sorry for the continued inconvenience.

Coming up on almost two more months having passed. Any updates by chance @Dave_1P?

Thanks for the ping! The team is actively working on a fix for the issue and hopefully that fix will made available for testing in the beta version of 1Password for Safari soon. 🙂

Thank you for your patience. Our developers have released a fix for an issue where you couldn’t see custom icons in the inline menu. Please update to version 8.10.54:
If you still see the issue in after updating to the latest version and restarting Safari then let me know. 🙂

P.S. @jsinglestein Thank you for confirming that the update has fixed the issue for you!
