Http basic auth not filling in
When heading to a website that uses http basic auth, 1password does not autofill not even let me fill in the login credentials. I need to copy them and paste them in manually every time. Anyone has some suggestions?

Hello @paillat! 👋
I'm sorry that you're having trouble filling into a basic authentication prompt. Can you please try the following steps:
- Open the web page and navigate to the basic auth prompt so that you see it open on your screen.
- Click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar.
- Click on the correct item and then click Autofill.
Your login credentials should be filled and submitted. Are you following these steps and finding that things still aren't working?

When opening the website, the website does not fully load before the popup opens, wich is a javascript alert box I believe. Thus the extension does not even know what url is being loaded. If I go to the item in the extention and click on open and fill, it opens it but does not fill anything, just the popup opens as always.

Thanks for the reply. If you're seeing "Open & Fill" when you select the Login item in the 1Password pop-up then it likely means that you don't have the right URL saved in 1Password.
Can you add the website's URL to your Login item in 1Password? If it's already there then remove it and add it again just to make sure that it's correct. After you've done so, you should see an Autofill button in the pop-up when selecting the Login item.

I just checked that the orrect url was saved, it was, removed it and added it again but that did not change anything.

I'm sorry that filling still isn't working. Could you try filling a basic auth prompt using the following testing site and instructions:
- Click the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and select New Item > Login.
- Add the URL https://basic.fill.dev to the item
- Enter
test
as the username, andautofill
as the password. - Navigate to this link -> https://basic.fill.dev
- Left click the 1Password icon in the toolbar, and click 'Autofill'.
Does filling the prompt on the testing site work? I look forward to hearing from you.

I'm having the same problem.
Curiously, it works in Edge but not in Firefox.0 -
Hi @Uxorious, thanks for reaching out!
I'm sorry that you're experiencing trouble filling basic auth prompts in Firefox. Can you clarify if you're unable to successfully autofill the basic auth prompt when locating the Login item in the 1Password extension pop-up and clicking "Open & Fill"? Are you only having trouble seeing the item suggested once already on the webpage with the basic auth prompt, or just unable to autofill when clicking the "Autofill" button?
I look forward to hearing from you!

For Basic Auth sites, Firefox will pop up the dialog.
Then if I click on the 1pass toolbar icon, the dropdown shows a single site - but it's not the one I'm on.
If I then search for it, I can indeed click on the "open and fill" button, but this will open a new tab and go to the root of the site - the page I was trying to open was deep in the bowels of the site somewhere, so that doesn't help me (in this case, the root of the sit actually gives me an error, so it REALLY doesn't help me).
Note: Edge doesn't give me an "Open and Fill" button - but an (forget exact wording) "Autofill" button that fills in the CURRENT open page - this works great.0 -
Thanks for sharing those details! It sounds like you're encountering a couple of issues with suggested Login items and using "Open & Fill" when trying to fill basic auth prompts in Firefox. These are both issues that our development team is investigating. I've shared your experience with them, and I apologize for any inconvenience. While I'm unable to provide an exact timeline for a fix, once there is one, it will be listed in our release notes.
As a workaround in the meantime, I'd suggest copying and pasting the credentials from the 1Password extension.
Let me know if there's anything else I can help with!

I can see what you mean, and I'm sorry that I don't have any better workarounds to share at this time. Hopefully there will be a resolution in the near future!
