Two-Factor Authentication prompt to verify before changes are available on other devices.

Hello,
I recently added my 1Password work and personal accounts on another computer and now when I open the 1Password application on Windows, I get the message:

Two-Factor Authentication
[account name]
Your changes won't be available on other devices until you verify your two-factor authentication code.

I do get the option to Authenticate Later.

Once I put in my 2FA code, everything is fine, but I don't understand why this keeps prompting me to verify... It did not used to do this before and I'm trying to figure out what happened.

I searched through the settings/documentation/forums but could not find anything applicable to me.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Max

  • Hello @MaxBrutis! 👋

I'm sorry that you're seeing a prompt asking you to reauthenticate more often than expected. Just to confirm: are you seeing the same prompt asking you for your 2FA one-time password on the same device? How often are you seeing the prompt on the same device and is it always concerning the same account?

Have you recently done either of the following:

    1. Chosen the "Require 2FA on Next Sign-in" option from your 1Password account profile: Turn on two-factor authentication for your 1Password account
    2. Turned two-faction authentication on for either account recently?

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi @Dave_1P,

It was happening on one W10 computer. I'm reinstalling W10 on that computer and will see if it happens again. I have not done 1 or 2 recently.

    Will report back soon.

    Thanks,
    Max

Thanks for the reply. Once you've added your 1Password accounts to the 1Password app on your PC let me know if the authentication message appears again and we can go from there. If you can take a screenshot of the message then that would help me to better understand the situation as well. 🙂
