Importing from a Dashlane CSV mixes fields

I'm trying out 1Password after using Dashlane for the past 8 years.

I exported my credentials from Dashlane into a CSV and imported them into 1Password. This appeared to work properly but once I tried to find a credential I realized that the fields were mixed up: The password was stored in a plain text field. The password field contained the url / name of the service.

FWIW, the Dashlane CSV export file has the following headers:

username,username2,username3,title,password,note,url,category,otpSecret

I'd like to find a way to import passwords from Dashlane before 1) the 1Password trial expires (2 weeks from now) and 2) my current Dashlane subscription expires (1 week from now). Otherwise, as much as I'd like to switch to 1Password, it won't be practical to do so.

Hah. It seems the CSV import does not use the first row as headers and assumes it is also data.

I'd recommend contacting my colleagues in email support. They may be able to offer guidance on the import and also help determine where the trouble is if something is wrong on our side. Please email us using support+forum@1password.com. Be sure to use the email address tied to the account in question.

This will help us connect the dots as they say.

    A final update:

I downloaded the 1Password app from the Mac App Store but it seems the latest version that you can download from the store is v7 (why?).

I downloaded and installed v8 from the 1Password website and reimported my Dashlane export. This time, the importer directed me to the web importer and it worked.

This had an easy resolution but it wasn't as straightforward as I wish it would be.

  • That's my fault @RebelCat2214 I totally missed the part where you mentioned 1Password 7. My apologies. I am happy to hear you've gotten things sorted.

1Password 8 is not currently available in the Mac App Store. Currently our efforts are focused on our direct website offering.
