Can Yubikey be set as sole means for 2FA? Or is still pending since 2022?

Hi,

I am looking into adding Yubikey to my routine but I read the other thread that Yubikey could not be set as sole 2FA making it a bit pointless.

Has this changed since or is it still the same?

Thanks

You can use just a key if you wish. I would strongly recommend using both. There are times you may be traveling for example and forget your key.

I would use 2-3 keys for redundancy.

Forgetting to take at least one would not be an issue.

An I right that I would have to use they key each time I would like to unlock 1P?

No, not unless you completely sign out. The Code/Key only plays a factor when first authenticating to the 1Password servers. You might also be prompted for it while accessing 1Password.com. After the initial linking your password is used. Again, we recommend both. But the choice is entirely yours.

Turn on two-factor authentication for your 1Password account

After you enter an authentication code, 1Password won’t ask you to enter one again unless you:

    Sign out on that device
Change your email address or account password
Regenerate your Secret Key or have your account recovered
Require two-factor authentication on the next sign-in
