[ERROR] 2024/03/11 11:25:40 connecting to desktop app: 1Password CLI couldn't connect to the 1Password desktop app. To fix this, update the desktop app to the latest version. If you're still having trouble connecting, restart the app. If you're using version 8.10.12 or earlier of the app, the 1Password CLI binary must be located in /usr/local/bin/op.

Trying to get this to work but gets this error all the time:

1Password Version: 1Password for Mac 8.10.27 (81027003)
Extension Version: 2.25.0
OS Version: Mac OS 14.4 (23E214)
Browser: Terminal.app with ZSH

    Facing the exact same issue:

    macOS Sonoma Version 14.5

    have tried all these steps:

    • restarted the app
    • reinstalled the op cli
    • reinstalled the macOS desktop app
    • tried different terminals (iterm, vscode integrated)
    • tried re-checking all the developer options (like Integrate with 1Password CLI)
    • restarted my machine

this message from 1password-dev's slack (1password-devs.slack.com) channel fixed it for me 🎉

make sure 1Password is set to be allowed to run in the background by going to: System Settings > General > Login Items

thanks to Josh Woodward from the 1password team!
