When I add a (Google) Titan security key I cannot use the MacOS application - latest version, 1Password for Mac 8.10.28 (81028034) - a prompt ask for the key (done) but cannot use it.

This Titan key can be used on the iOS version of the app using NFC.

Thank you for your help.

  • Hello @biorosetics! 👋

I'm sorry that you're unable to to authenticate the 1Password app using your Titan security key. I'd like to ask you to reproduce the issue one more time and then create a diagnostics report from your Mac:

    Sending Diagnostics Reports (Mac)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support+forum@1password.com.

    With your email please include:

    Please send the entire file.

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here. Thanks very much!

    Thank you for your support.

The support ID number for this issue is TSV-89599-962

Log emphasizes this issue: "ThreadId(484) [1P:ffi/op-core-node/src/lib.rs:684] failed to get assertion from security key: ChallengeFailed(InvalidRelyingPartyInput)\nWARN "

    In addition:

    • I use the stable version but can reproduce the bug using beta channel.
    • Key is available on iOS
    • Key works fine with Chrome (Google account or other)

    Kind regards

  • @biorosetics

Thank you for posting the Support ID, your email made it to the right team. I suspect that you're being affected by a known issue that our developers are investigating but my colleague will be able to confirm that once they've reviewed your diagnostics report.

While the team is looking into this, you can add a TOTP authenticator app to your 1Password account and authenticate your account with the 1Password for Mac app using that authenticator app: Turn on two-factor authentication for your 1Password account

You should receive an email from my colleague soon, keep an eye on your inbox. Please continue the conversation there once you receive it.

    Dear community,

I received this email from the support team. Seems to be a known bug.

Hope this will be solved quickly.

    regards

The logs in the diagnostics report indicate that you're experiencing a known issue that our development team is currently investigating. I apologize for any inconveniences this issue has caused. I can't offer a timeframe for when the fix will become available, but I'd recommend keeping 1Password up to date to ensure that you receive all fixes and improvements as soon as they are released

I'm sorry that you're being affected by a known issue. Until the bug is resolved, you can add an authenticator app to your 1Password account and use the authenticator app, not your security key, when signing into the 1Password for Mac app.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    -Dave
