"No items to show" when trying to fill a saved login in Safari

Ever since the latest update of the Safari Extension to 2.22.1, autofill for one of my primary logins stopped working. If I go to the login page, the attached screenshot is what I get. If I invoke "Go and Fill" from within the macOS app, it works just fine. Or, when autofill fails in Safari, it works if I go to the login and select Autofill. Prior to 2.22.1, this login has worked perfectly, about six or seven times a day. It's even a 1Password Favorite I use it so much.

1Password Version: 8.10.30
Extension Version: 2.22.1
OS Version: 14.4.1
Browser: Safari

  • Hello @LarryMcJ! 👋

I'm sorry that autofill isn't working with 1Password for Safari. Is this just happening on the one website? Or on multiple websites? If it's just the one then are you able to share the website address so that I can test this on my end?

If you don't want to post the address here on the public forum, then please send it to support+forum@1Password.com and include a link to this thread. You'll receive an auto-reply with a Support ID, post that here and I'll be able to find your message. 🙂

No problem posting it...it's a public site and free to join. So far, I've only noticed it on this site, but absolutely nothing has changed on the site. It's a nonprofit and I'm on the board, so I'd know. It's backended by MemberClicks.

Thank you for posting the link. When I save a test login and navigate to https://www.tellicolife.org/login#/login I see the following:

Can you make sure that the vault that the item is in is enabled for 1Password for Safari:

    1. Right-click on the 1Password icon in Safari's toolbar and click Settings.
    2. Click Accounts & vaults.
    3. Make sure that the account and vault that the item is located in is enabled here.

If that still doesn't work then can you reproduce the same issue in another Safari profile or Private window?

Dave, the vault containing this login is enabled, and has always been. If I use "Open & Fill" from the macOS app, it works fine. As I mentioned in my original post, it's only when I navigate manually to the login page, then click on the 1P logo in the credentials window, that I see "No Items to Show". After that, I can go to the 1P extension in Safari, open the login and it will autofill. But the Safari extension no longer recognizes it for autofill as it did for years prior to this latest version of the extension.

Thank you for those details. Since I still can't reproduce the issue on my end using Safari and the same version of 1Password's browser extension that you're using on two different Macs, are you able to try clearing your Safari history/cache or try to fill the password into a Private window to see if that might help?

If you can still reproduce the issue after clearing history/cache or using a Private window then I'd like to ask you to send in a console log when reproducing the issue:

Attach the file to an email message addressed to support+forum@1password.com.

    With your email please include:

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here. Thanks very much!

Dave, here is some other information that might help you, and I'd be interested to know if you experience the same in your test account, because I experience this here on two different Macs.

If you put the login page URL (https://tvlife.memberclicks.net/login#/login) directly into Safari or Chrome, it works fine. When this page opens, click in the username field and 1P autofills as it should. But if you go to the site homepage (https://tvlife.memberclicks.net) and then click on "Member Login" it takes you to this very same page, but 1P will absolutely not autofill...not in Safari and not in Chrome. This simply has to be an issue in 1P or on the site...but it's never happened before, not once, until the latest extensions were updated in both Safari and Chrome.

  • @LarryMcJ

Thanks for the reply. The previous website address that you provided was https://www.tellicolife.org. However, if I add https://tvlife.memberclicks.net as a website address to the same login item then I'm able to fill when navigating to https://tvlife.memberclicks.net and clicking Member Login in both Safari and Chrome.

Can you clarify which website is saved in 1Password? Is it https://www.tellicolife.org or https://tvlife.memberclicks.net? And are you experiencing the same issue when accessing both website addresses?

Sorry...my bad. https://www.tellicolife.org is the public-facing URL and TLD for this site, but the site is back-ended by Memberclicks, thus the https://tvlife.memberclicks.net, They're both the same site. But that said, I have https://tvlife.memberclicks.net/login as the website in 1Password, and if I use "Go & Fill" from within 1Password, it works fine. But if I go to https://www.tellicolife.org and click on Member Login, 1Password does not work...but is USED to work just fine.

I can eliminate the problem by going in the back door at https://tvlife.memberclicks.net/login, but I'm curious as to why it stopped working when using the Member Login at https://www.tellicolife.org. I suppose Memberclicks could have changed something behind the scenes.

Better yet, I just thought of another way to solve this. The current 1P login has only https://tvlife.memberclicks.net/login as the website. So I added https://www.tellicolife.org/login#/login as a second website in the login, and works fine now. https://www.tellicolife.org/login#/login is the URL behind the Member Login button. Anyway, it's no longer a problem...I should have thought to do this earlier, but it didn't dawn on me until your response mentioning the two different URLs.

  • @LarryMcJ

I'm happy that you were able to resolve the issue, thanks for sharing your solution! 🙂
